— More About The Harvest Thyme Café —

Harvest Thyme Café, located at the farm, serves breakfast, lunch, and homemade ice cream.  We serve farm fresh seasonal foods, most grown on our farm, and the rest we source as locally as possible.  We have 10 seats in our café inside the farm store, 10 more seats outside in our patio area, and many picnic tables around the garden with a sandbox and toys for the kids.

We start serving lunch around 11 am and serve until 2 pm everyday.  Our lunch menu changes weekly, on Fridays, and always features fresh seasonal foods.  Quiche, soups, sandwiches and, coming this summer, a salad bar with a multitude of fresh farm grown veggies!  There is also a fresh baked homemade dessert or two and also our drinks like flavored lemonades, mulled juices, and our famous Hibiscus Ginger Lime Iced Tea!

We also make our own homemade ice creams and sorbets in small batches.  We change flavors often depending on the seasons and what's available.  We always have at least one vegan/non dairy option.

When deciding to open our café we had a few decisions to make, in particular about what we would serve our food on.  First choice was nice handmade pottery plates etc., but we found out the regulations on that involved putting in a commercial dishwasher just for dishes and expanding our septic system to handle all the water used.  That was too expensive and we need our water to irrigate our crops anyway!  So the other option was disposable dinnerware.  This did not sit well with us as making more trash in this world was not what we wanted to do.  So we researched and settled on compostable dinnerware.  All of our plates, bowls, silverware, cups, and take home containers are compostable!  Not just recycled – they are actually turned into usable compost!  It does require a heat process to break them down, so it's not something we can do ourselves.  But we did make sure that our dumpster company, who already does sort the trash, would get it to an appropriate facility to compost it.  We are very proud of this solution and feel it was the most sustainable choice.

Our kitchen also puts out a great variety of take home meals from our fabulous Pork Pie and Chicken Pot Pie to soups, salads and, of course, dessert pies, too.  We hope you will come check us out and enjoy all the great foods we have to offer in a gorgeous farm setting.
