Autumn Harvest Farm is once again offering our CSA. We are offering one size share, which we call an average share. This will be plenty for an average size family or for a 2 vegetarian household. The share will run for 17 weeks beginning the week of June 2nd and ending the week of Sept 28th. The cost is $425.00 for the season and payment is due by April 25th. There are a limited number of shares so sign up early to insure your spot. We are offering pickups at any of the markets we attend during the summer and also a pickup at the farm Please be sure to mark your choice of pickup site on the form below. The scheduled sites for pickup will be as follows:
Our share is a self-serve share, so when you come to our booth at the market you will be given a list of choices for the day and you get to pick your own items from the list. Your share will include a loaf of our delicious fresh baked bread each week! You can choose from our selection at the market or, if you want a specific bread, you may email us 2 days ahead to request your favorite kind! Your share also includes a dozen of our farm fresh free range eggs every other week. The balance of your share will be made up of our fresh seasonal vegetables, herbs, strawberries and occasionally a canned good; jam, pickle chutney etc., from our licensed commercial kitchen, made from local ingredients.
Autumn Harvest Farm
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Members of the community become members of the farm by purchasing a “share of the farm harvest”. Members benefit by receiving fresh, pesticide free vegetables grown by people you know. The farmer benefits by having a predictable early income available to purchase seeds and supplies. The farmer can also spend more time farming instead of looking for places to sell their produce as they know how much they need to grow ahead of the season. This allows more concentration on the actual farm work leading to better crops.
CSA’s help keep local small farms farming and help preserve local farm land.
CSA members have a relationship with the people growing their food and can see the techniques used to produce it. If you want to see the farm for a visit you are more than welcome, please call ahead so that we can be sure someone is available to show you around.
We grow a large variety of vegetables and in season you will see them arrive in all their fresh deliciousness. At the beginning of your share will be lots of greens, both lettuces and cooking greens, radishes and salad turnips. Then towards the end of June and into July you will see the wide variety of summer veggies begin like tomatoes, cukes, squashes, broccoli and more. Then into August we see fresh sweet corn, melons, eggplant, peppers, onions and so much more. Then into September we see the beginning of storage veggies, like winter squash, potatoes, beets, carrots, cabbages & kale. That is a snapshot of your share, but there will be some surprises too. We are working very hard to become a year round farm, growing as much as we can within each season and storing, canning, drying or freezing as a means of preserving the summer bounty for the rest of the seasons. To that end we will begin offering a year round CSA available in 3 month increments, beginning with our Fall Share, Oct to Dec. The year round shares would run as follows, Winter Share – Jan., Feb., March; Spring Share – April, May, June; Summer Share – July, August, Sept.; Fall Share – Oct., Nov., Dec. Each season would bring different items grown and/or made on our own farm. As we get more info from our share holders we will have a list of what each season will bring in your share.
